Purchasing any car security system from Serious Autosport brings peace-of-mind when it comes to protecting your vehicle and its contents, provided you are satisfied with the protection that comes with your new security system. While the included protection (Ignition kill/ impact sensor/entry sensing) does a pretty good job, areas remain that you can protect with a minimal additional investment at the time of installation or at a later date.

Ask yourself some specific questions relating to exactly what you want to protect. Chances are, there’s an optional sensor you can purchase that will extend the level of protection. Maybe you just bought a nice new set of rims and tires or you want to give that convertible or Jeep some added protection. Whatever the case, you’ll find one or more of the sensors I mention here will do the trick. Come into Serious Autosport today and ask for a free estimate to fully protect your car and even add remote start if needed.

DEI’s 508T Dual Zone Field Disturbance Sensor

This sensor emits a “field” around a portion of the vehicle and can be either single or dual zone. When the field is disturbed by a motion (such as an arm let’s say) the alarm is triggered. In the case of dual zone sensors, you can have an outer field which “warns” the intruder by chirping the alarm’s siren as well as the inner field, which sounds the alarm instantly once violated. Both types of sensors are adjustable, depending on the environment your vehicle is in. (Best uses: Jeeps, Convertibles, T-Tops.)

The DEI 507M Self-Leveling Tilt Sensor

While an impact sensor can detect impact to the vehicle, it generally cannot protect against the vehicle being jacked up or rocked. This usually occurs when someone attempts to help themselves to your rims and tires, or tries to climb into your truck bed. Early tilt sensors worked pretty well- provided the vehicle was parked on a flat/ level surface. Current technology allows for self-leveling tilt sensors, which actually level themselves regardless of whether the vehicle is on a level surface or not. As with other sensors, these have a LO/HI adjustment which changes the sensitivity.

The 506t Audio Sensor from DEI

Believe it or not, you can break vehicle glass without setting off an alarm’s impact sensor! If the impact to the glass is done properly and with the right object, little if any vibration occurs. For this scenario, add a glass breakage or audio sensor. This adjustable sensor actually picks up the frequency associated with glass and works well.

The DEI 513t Pain Generator Siren

In a situation where the would-be thief actually enters your vehicle, the best way to end this situation is to force the violator to leave the vehicle- and the best way to do that is to make it difficult for the person to remain in the vehicle. For this case, there is a mini siren that mounts inside the vehicle and is called a “pain generator” because of the loud shrill tone it emits which can be painful to the ear. This siren is installed where it cannot be reached but definitely heard!

            The 520t Back-Up Battery Kit

Everything in your vehicle depends on the vehicle’s battery- even the security system. In the rare case that a would-be thief is able to disengage your battery, you would be left without the ability for the security system to operate. For situations such as this one, you can have a back-up battery kit installed, which is essentially a small gel-cell battery that gets installed in a remote part of the vehicle. In the event that the main battery becomes disconnected, the back-up battery will provide power for the security system to effectively operate. Whatever security system you select, always ask yourself exactly what you expect from it and what areas of your vehicle you want to emphasize with protection. This way, you’ve given yourself the best combination of performance and peace-of-mind.
